To say that I am obsessed with sweaters right now is an understatement. I. Can’t. Stop. Buying. Them. There are so many cute ones right now that it’s hard to narrow it down. Sweaters can get pricey though, and they take up a lot of room in your closet. Having too many can get overwhelming. I try to stick to buying sweaters that I know I will wear for many seasons to come. Below I’ve complied a few different lists of my favorite sweaters to hopefully make it easier for you to shop, and help narrow down your search.

Casual / Everyday Sweaters

Sweaters Under $60

I hope you enjoyed my favorite sweater picks!
What sweater can you not stop wearing this season?

Sweater // Pants old, similar here // Boots old, similar here // Necklaces here and here // Earrings

I wore this outfit for a Starbucks date with my daughter. We were starting to go a little stir crazy from being stuck in the house, so we bundled up and ventured out after a break in the rain/snow/sleet we were having.

I wasn’t sure about this sweater when I saw it in the store but after trying it on I had to have it. It is made of the softest, almost chenille material, and it is warm and cozy despite being a cold shoulder top. It would also look gorgeous with a pair of maroon pants (I am still on the hunt for the perfect pair but I think I might give these a try). I sized up to a small. I could have easily gone with an XS but I like my sweaters oversized.

I am also loving these soft sweaters.

Happy Monday, Friends!

Sara

Sweater (on sale!) // Pants (on sale!) // Booties (on sale!) // Bag, sold out (similar here) // Necklaces here and here // Earrings

I have a love/hate relationship with workwear. For me, it is alllll about being comfortable. The majority of my day is spent on the floor/chasing children/climbing playground equipment, etc. etc. If I sit down at all, it is in a chair made for a five year old. But even so, I need to dress professionally (although I think that teachers should be allowed to wear joggers and gym shoes every day 😉 ). Corduroys and the softest sweater are the perfect way to be professional and comfortable. These corduroys fit a little tight but will stretch with wear. I was still able to wear my usual size, and they come in a bunch of colors. I bought the sweater in a small vs. an x-small because I wanted it to be a little oversized.

Before this school year started, I purchased this bag shown above from JCrew. Best. Investment. For years, I was carrying a multitude of things to work, and trying to juggle it all without spilling my coffee while locking my car door. I used to carry my computer bag, lunch bag, workout clothes, giant water bottle, and a coffee. Now that I have this bag, I can simply shove everything inside. Now I carry this bag, and my coffee. It has made my life so much easier.

My favorite booties are on sale – grab them before they are gone! I am not one to forgo comfort for fashion but these are both. I can wear them all day, and they are beyond cute. I get so many compliments on them. Snag them now because spring will be here before we know it. 😉 Top the whole look off with some great everyday necklaces, and you are ready to go!

What is you favorite workwear look?

Sara

Give the Gift of Style With Stitch Fix

Have you ever tried Stitch Fix? With the holidays rapidly approaching, it’s time to start thinking about the perfect gift for everyone on our list. Each year, I struggle with what to buy for friends and family members. I know that 90% of the gifts that I buy are going to get returned yet purchasing gift cards to a store seems so impersonal. This year, I decided that I am going to get (a little) creative, and give the gift of Stitch Fix for all those “hard to buy for” people in my life.

So what exactly is Stitch Fix? It is an online styling service that delivers clothing and accessories hand picked for you directly to your door. Each Stitch Fix box contains five items for you to try on at home. You keep what you love, and send back the rest using the prepaid USPS envelope. Shipping and returns are always free. They even offer exchanges!

Don’t have time to shop for yourself this holiday season (I mean, who does!)? Try Stitch Fix for yourself!

There is normally a $25 styling fee which is subtracted from anything that you end up purchasing but Stitch Fix is waiving that $25 styling fee for Joggers and Gym Shoes readers!

Stitch Fix carries so many of my favorite brands – Joie, Ella Moss, Paige, Splendid, Rails, and Free People. They also carry a lot of their own brands so you will probably receive a few pieces unique to them that you could not find in stores. Who doesn’t love surprises?! 😉

If you’ve never tried Stitch Fix before, it can take a couple tries before you find a stylist that meets all of your needs and understands your style. It took me two times, and a change of stylist, before I loved what I was getting. That can be frustrating though. You have high expectations and then you are underwhelmed.

Here are some tips to get the most out of your Stitch Fix:

  1. Be very detailed when filling out your profile. Make sure you list brands that you like along with sizes you typically wear in those brands. If your sizes change, make sure you update your profile! I forgot to do this after I lost my baby weight but luckily you can exchange items that you want to keep for different sizes. Returns and exchanges are always free!
  2. Write a detailed note to your stylist each time you schedule a Fix. Don’t just say, “I like sweaters”, be very specific in the type of sweater style, color, etc. Do you have an event coming up? Let your stylist know about it so she can find you something special.
  3. Leave feedback when you checkout. The more detail the better. If the armholes on that shirt were cut too small, or if you weren’t crazy about the pattern but loved the fit, put it in the feedback.
  4. Link to a Pinterest style board and keep it updated! This is the absolute best way to really let your stylist know what looks you want to emulate.

Sweater Dresses for Fall

On Sara: Dress // Boots are old, similar here and here

I am a lover of a good sweater dress, I mean, who isn’t? They are cozy and stylish, yet still forgiving enough to enjoy a few extra slices of pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving. The color block pattern on this particular dress is so in right now, and the over-the-knee boots help provide enough coverage that this dress can be worn for work or for play. Personally, I don’t wear a lot of dresses to work because I spend the majority of my day on the floor with a menagerie of five year olds but I may have to make an exception for this one. I will definitely be wearing them more as the weather continues to cool down.

I’ve also rounded up a few of my favorite sweater dresses to take you from fall into winter. I plan on living in them this holiday season!

Favorite Fall Sweater Dresses:

Gray Dress

Pink Turtleneck Dress

Maroon Dress

Balloon Sleeve Dress

Tie Sleeve Dress

Will you be living in sweater dresses this fall? What is your favorite fall item?

Thanksgiving Outfit Ideas

Sweater Dress

Well, can you believe it’s November already? I absolutely cannot. I mean, it was 80 degrees like just last week, wasn’t it? These next two months are always a whirlwind. Thanksgiving is going to happen in just three weeks, and then those weeks leading up to Christmas are so jam packed that they just fly by. The year is ending. There are deadlines, and planning, and shopping, and cooking, and wrapping, and decorating, and more shopping, and you’re trying to stay healthy and keep your kids healthy…There is just A LOT going on this time of year.

Any who, I am all about comfort when it comes to holidays. Especially holidays that fall during the winter months. I mean, who wants to take off their pajamas when it’s cold out? Not me! Am I alone in this one? Well, even though I would prefer to spend Thanksgiving in these joggers and this sweatshirt, I still enjoy planning a fun outfit to wear, at least until I change into my comfy clothes. 😉 Below I’m showing you two different Thanksgiving looks that I think are festive and fun all while still being comfortable enough to eat 16871918701 calories.

Sweater // Skirt // Coat // Purse // Boots // Earrings

How cute is this skirt and bootie combo? I love how you can pair a mini skirt with a loose fitting sweater, and it suddenly becomes much more appropriate to wear. This sweater also has the cutest balloon sleeves and side slit. I can’t even handle how adorable this coat is. It is just the perfect shade of understated pink. And of course, a super cute bag and simple earrings to tie it all together. I also love that all of these pieces could be dressed up OR dressed down. They are all so versatile!

Dress // Jacket // Boots // Purse // Scarf // Earrings

For this next look, you are pairing a loose fitting dress (perfect for Thanksgiving gorging!) and a form fitting jacket. You will tie those two pieces together with ah-mazing boots. Seriously, they make your legs look so good! You will top the whole look off with a neutral pink scarf (Is my love for pink growing on you?), simple rose gold earrings, and a purse to give your whole look a little pop of color.

And if you are looking for something more casual, I would check out this perfect fall look here!

Thanks for stopping by! Stay tuned for more fall looks!

Sara

Pink and Gold for Fall

On Sara:

Top // Jeans // Booties sold out, similar here and here.

Necklaces: here and here.

Earrings: here.

I think I’ve said this before but I love wearing pink in the fall. It’s such a refreshing change from all of the navy, olive, maroon, and gray that typically dominates this time of year. Not to discount a good navy or gray because honestly, my closet is mostly gray, but it’s fun to throw in a pop of color every now and then.

I found this top while shopping on a rainy Saturday with my mom and had to have it. I wear a lot of clothes that need to be appropriate for work but also allow for me to be sitting on the floor with 20 five year olds. This top can be dressed up or down making it appropriate for both. I’m envisioning it with a fun scarf as the weather get cooler and these ripped jeans. It would also be cute with a skirt or black pants, and some over-the-knee boots.

I was also on the hunt for a necklace that was casual enough I could wear everyday. I mean, I spend my day with five year olds so there is no getting fancy over here. I got really excited when I found this necklace that matches the earrings I wear everyday. Literally, every. single. day. Never take them off, they go with everything. This necklace is also short enough that my kids can’t pull on it. Win win.

What’s your fall go-to look?

Pretty Pintastic Party

Fall Outfit Inspiration

Falloutfit

Fall is my favorite season to shop for. There is something so fresh about shopping for fall clothes. Maybe it’s back to school? Maybe it’s the cooler temps? Maybe it’s the packs of fresh crayons and unopened textbooks. But, whatever it is, the change in seasons from summer to fall always feels like a fresh start.

I love wearing neutrals in fall. There is something so crisp about an ivory or pale pink against the fall foliage backdrop. The sweater above is a favorite. I also love this one here. These jeans are a favorite of mine and so comfortable! I own three pairs of this brand. I am lusting after this bag, and love the pop of fun color. These mules are currently in my shopping cart. This watch I own, and wear everyday. It’s so versatile. These earrings are by one of my favorite brands, are so unique and could be dressed up or dressed down.

I am also loving this top, this cardigan, this sweater dress, this scarf, and this lip color for fall.

What To Wear For Fall Family Photos

I am not a big fan of posed photos, and neither are my children, so I was really happy that Melissa Zimmer Photography captured the essence of my wild and crazy family so perfectly.

We pumped the kids full of snacks for our 6pm photo shoot. I was a little worried about the timing since we normally eat dinner around 5:45, and my Type A self hates to break routine, but I was willing to make the sacrifice for the beautiful light I knew we would get.

I am not a fan of posed photos so we let the kids run around for the majority of the time, bribing them to smile with pizza afterwards.

I chose outfits based on what my very opinionated threenager picked out to wear. You should have seen her trying on dress after dress, twirling in the mirror, in the fitting rooms at Gap. I didn’t want us to be matchy-matchy but since Chloe chose a bright pink dress, I tried to pick more muted/neutral colors for the rest of us. My outfit was a last minute choice since the top I had originally picked to wear ended up being pretty see through in the afternoon light. Dean’s shirt is old but it complemented Ryan’s well. Ryan’s Hudsons are old, and run huge (they are 12mo) that his skinny self finally fits into them.

Our photos ended up being quick and painless. I recommended keeping any family shoots to 30 minutes or less. My kids were done after about 20 minutes.

I hope you enjoy some of my favorites as much as I do!

XO,

Sara
